Free Things to Do on Tuesdays in Manchester

Tuesday is a difficult day to enjoy. It’s too far from the weekend and not particularly inspiring, particularly when you do not have much cash to spare. If you’re stuck for something to do this Tuesday in Manchester, check out these suggestions for family fun. These activities are free or very low in cost, so you can enjoy your Tuesday with a difference.

  1. Take an Art Picnic

For a family activity with a difference, take the children this Tuesday to Whitworth Art Gallery and enjoy one of their Art Picnics. You get to borrow a hamper packed with different art materials, as well as a blanket to sit on as you draw and create – inspired by what you see at the gallery itself.

  1. Enjoy a Free Lunchtime Concert

Chethams School of Music puts on performances for free on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday lunchtimes during the term. You could discover the star of the future, and at least you will enjoy a relaxing lunch break with a difference.

  1. Check Out the City’s Architecture

Manchester has some stunning architecture to discover but some of it takes a little time to recognise. You can download a free app that directs you round the sites of special interest on Manchester’s architecture scene. Use headphones to learn more about the different buildings you see. Perfect for a Tuesday lunchtime or after work.

  1. Visit John Ryland’s Library

This historic library on Deansgate is actually not as old as it looks – the neo-Gothic building dates from 1900. It is famous for some historic manuscripts and historic collections, as well as its wide collection of books.

  1. Chill Out and Relax at Home

If you don’t want to travel at all, and want to spend a Tuesday evening at home, don’t get bored – play Online Bingo instead. Tuesday is the best weekday to play because you can take advantage of serious discounts and play for longer.

  1. Visit the Museum of Science and Industry

If you have the day off on Tuesday and you want to visit one of Manchester’s top museums, head to the Museum of Science and Industry. There are some excellent free exhibits and different free events to enjoy.

  1. Chill Out in Heaton Park

Get some fresh air and do some exercise in the largest park in Manchester. The space is attractive and full of different pathways and trails. You can also play sport, or just relax on the grass if the day is nice.
