Most of us already have blinds in our property. However, although we look after them, they won’t last forever. While there are a number of options out there for really affordable and economy blinds, some of us don’t have the funds available for that, or we simply don’t like that range. Luckily, you don’t have to throw your old blinds out just yet. While you wait until you have saved up enough to get exactly what you want, you can decorate the blinds that you already have, giving them a new lease of life.
First Things First
Before you start to actually decorate your blinds, there are a few things that you have to do. Firstly, get an idea of what you actually want to do with them and make sure you have the materials available to achieve that. Secondly, make sure that your blinds are completely clean. Now you’re ready to get started!
Fabric to Fabric
If you have roller blinds, you can simply attach a piece of new fabric to it to completely transform it. Measure your blinds so you know how much you will need, choose the fabric you like, and simply glue it in place. Do make sure that the material is quite light, so that it is able to easily stick to the original material of the blind. You can use a glue gun or some spray glue to keep it in place, but make sure that you use a glue that is suitable for fabrics. Once it has dried, you need to add the finishing touches. A sealant placed on the edges of your new fabric will make sure that everything stays in place and looking good.
If you are a bit of an artist, you can also paint your blinds. Simply have your paints ready, as well as some brushes, and let out your creativity. It can also be a lot of fun to ask other people to do it for you. For instance, you could ask all your visitors to write a little message on your blind, or you could ask kids to use some paints to draw you some amazing pictures. This means your blind will be completely unique, and something that is totally yours and really meaningful as well. Best of all, you don’t even have to take the blind down in order to complete this. It will be a work in progress, of sorts.
Do remember that these decorations work, but they won’t last forever. Once you get to the point that you need to change your blinds like this, they are probably already at the end of their lifecycle themselves. Hence, the time to permanently change them has really arrived. However, rather than having to settle for something you don’t really want because you can’t afford better yet, these options give you a way to still enjoy the look and feel of your home until you are ready to completely change things.
