Home appliances have changed the way we live our lives, made everything easier and created a world where we can spend less time doing chores and back breaking work and more time enjoying ourselves. Whether you are moving into your first place or remodelling, here are a few appliances that you won’t want to be without.
1. A washing machine
Gone are the days when we had to scrub out our clothes on a stone rock, or scrubbing board. Exhausting days of washing out clothes with precarious looking soap is a thing of the past. You might begin your days in your new home washing your clothes in the bath tub or sink but if you want more leisure time, you won’t put up with it for long. Unlike our ancestors, we can have an entire load of laundry cleaned in less than an hour thanks to the trusty washing machine.
2. The refrigerator
Whether you want milk for your morning cup of Joe, somewhere to keep your beer cold or to ensure all your meat, cheese, fish and pie is kept fresh, a refrigerator is pretty much essential to any modern home. Without it, you would have to shop daily for your food or find creative ways to stop it from spoiling like heaps of salt or soaking it in vinegar. It doesn’t just keep our food fresh, it saves time and helps us live longer because spoiled food is not just nasty, it is very dangerous. Thank goodness for modern technology.
3. A Cooker
It’s at the heart of the kitchen, and the food you make using it can bring families and friends together, help maintain romance between couples and set you up for the day. A cooker is a kitchen staple and if you have just moved in the smell of freshly cooked food is the perfect way to give your new place that homely feeling. Take-out food doesn’t quite have the same effect.
4. A Vacuum cleaner
When your home gets messy and it is time to clean, the vacuum cleaner is a godsend. It saves hours of back breaking brushing, especially if you have a big house, and many people find using it to clean almost therapeutic. For busy households it is an essential and nowadays you can get everything from robot vacuum cleaners to space age models that you will be proud to display.
5. The television
It has only been around since 1927 but the TV has taken the world by storm. It has brought news, films and popular shows to our lounges and for many people it is at the heart of their homes. It might not keep your food fresh or cook it to perfection and it definitely can’t wash your clothes but it does provide hours of entertainment and for many people it is an important part of their leisure time. Now TV’s are slimmer, have better screens and clearer pictures than ever before. Some people are so passionate about their televisions that TV installation is the first thing they think about when they are remodelling or planning out the layout of furniture in their new home. No more chunky TVs. These days TVs are a focal point. They can be wall mounted and cables can be hidden.
